✨ New in YarnPixel 1.24 ✨

We’ve just released YarnPixel 1.24, and it brings some of our biggest updates yet. This release introduces a brand-new Colour Palette Builder, iCloud syncing between devices, support for seven additional languages, plus a number of smaller improvements and enhancements throughout the app.

If you use YarnPixel to find matching yarn colours, plan knitting or crochet projects, or build colour ideas from photos, there’s even more to explore.

NEW: Build a Colour Palette from Any Image

One of the biggest additions in YarnPixel 1.24 is our new Colour Palette Builder.

Until now, YarnPixel has focused on helping you pick a colour from a photo or image and find yarn products that closely match it. With the new palette builder, you can go a step further.

Simply choose an image, pick multiple colours from it, and see them come together as a single colour palette. You can move the colours around in the palette, and remove any that are poor matches.

It’s a simple way to capture the colours you love and see how they work alongside one another before you start your next project.

You could create a yarn colour palette from:

  • A favourite photograph
  • Flowers or landscapes
  • Interior design and home décor
  • Clothing or artwork
  • A sunset or holiday photo
  • Characters, costumes or illustrations
  • An existing knitting or crochet project

Whether you’re planning a blanket, garment, project, accessory or something completely different, the new palette builder can help turn visual inspiration into a usable set of colours.

And once you’ve found the colours you love, YarnPixel can still search through our catalogue of thousands of yarn products to help you find close yarn colour matches.

NEW: iCloud Sync Between Devices

YarnPixel 1.24 also introduces iCloud syncing. If you use YarnPixel on more than one Apple device, your YarnPixel data can now stay in sync between them.

That means the colours and wish list items you’ve added can be available across your devices without having to recreate everything manually. iCloud syncing is designed to happen seamlessly in the background (we use Apple’s iCloud KVS model), and if you’d prefer not to use it, the feature can be disabled from YarnPixel’s settings.

It’s a small addition that we hope makes a big difference for anyone who switches between devices while planning their knitting, crochet or craft projects.

NEW: YarnPixel Is Now Localised to Additional Languages and Regions

We want YarnPixel to be useful to crafters around the world, so version 1.24 also brings support for seven new languages:

  • Bulgarian
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • Finnish
  • Greek
  • Norwegian Bokmål
  • Swedish

These join our existing localisations for English (UK), English (US), French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish and Welsh (UK). That means YarnPixel is now localised across 15 languages.

As YarnPixel continues to grow internationally, localisation is an important part of making the app easier and more enjoyable to use – whether you knit, crochet, weave, finger knit or work with yarn in another way entirely.

Yarn Colour Matching, Made Easy

At its core, YarnPixel still does what it was originally designed to do: help you find yarn that matches a colour you can see. Take a photo or choose an image, select a colour, and YarnPixel will compare it against thousands of yarn colours to show you the five closest matches we can find.

Our yarn catalogue now includes more than 5,500 products from leading yarn brands, including Scheepjes, Stylecraft, Red Heart, Lion Brand Yarn, Bernat, Caron, DMC, James C Brett, Paintbox Yarns, Sirdar, TOFT, King Cole and more.

You can also filter yarn matches by details including brand, product range, yarn weight, fibre content and needle size, helping you narrow down potential matches for your project.

The new Colour Palette Builder builds on that same idea: start with the colours that inspire you, then use YarnPixel to help turn them into something you can create with.

Smaller Improvements in YarnPixel 1.24

Alongside the headline features, version 1.24 also includes a number of minor updates, fixes and enhancements designed to make YarnPixel a little smoother and easier to use.

We’re constantly working on the app, researching for our yarn catalogue and listening to feedback from knitters, crocheters and other crafters. If there’s a yarn brand or product range you’d like to see added, or a feature you think would make YarnPixel even more useful, we’d love to hear your suggestions.
