🔆 New in YarnPixel v1.022: Manual Dark Mode Control for Enhanced Accessibility

We’re excited to announce a great new feature in YarnPixel v1.022; you can now manually control Light or Dark Mode directly in the app, overriding your device’s system setting!

🎨 Why This Matters

Many users rely on dark or light interfaces not just for aesthetics, but for comfort and accessibility. Whether it’s due to light sensitivity, visual strain, or environmental lighting, screen brightness can significantly affect your experience.

In fact, Apple recognises Dark Mode as part of its accessibility review criteria for apps – especially for users with light sensitivity or vision-related needs. It’s included in Apple’s developer documentation under the “Dark Interface” accessibility evaluation, reinforcing how important it is to provide user-level control.

That’s why, in this update, YarnPixel gives you full flexibility to choose the mode that works best for you.

⚙️ How It Works

You’ll now find a new “Appearance” option under the Settings menu in YarnPixel. Here’s what you can choose:

  • System Default – Follows your iPhone or iPad’s Light/Dark Mode setting

  • Light Mode – Always uses a light background

  • Dark Mode – Always uses a dark background

This gives you complete control over your visual experience, especially useful when crafting in low light or under bright lamps.

🧵 Designed with Accessibility in Mind

We designed this feature to support real-life crafting environments — from late-night projects to sunlit craft room — and to make YarnPixel more inclusive. Whether you’re managing visual discomfort, dealing with glare, or simply prefer consistency, this feature puts the choice in your hands.

YarnPixel is committed to making the app work better for every user — and this is just one step of many in that direction.
